Professor Çiğdem Gündüz Demir is a distinguished faculty member in the Department of Computer Engineering and the School of Medicine at Koç University, where she also serves as the Director of the AI Center.

Her academic journey also includes appointments as a visiting professor at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, in Fall 2009, and Stanford University in Spring 2013. She is an active member of professional societies such as IEEE and ISCB and is an alumnus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Boğaziçi University, and Ankara Science High School.

Professor Gündüz Demir’s research focuses on the development of computational models using machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision for medical image analysis.

Her research group is currently involved in interdisciplinary projects in collaboration with the Departments of Pathology and Biology, focusing on the microscopic analysis of histopathological images and in vitro fluorescence and live cell imaging. They are also working with the Departments of Ophthalmology, Radiology, and Anatomy
