JON STEPHENSON VON TETZCHNER

Industry pioneer and browser visionary, Jon von Tetzchner is co-founder of Vivaldi and Opera browser. Currently he is the CEO of Vivaldi Technologies, the company behind the Vivaldi web browser and other services for the web’s most demanding and savviest users.

 

He is a passionate technology entrepreneur committed to creating innovative and elegant solutions on the web and through the web – transforming various projects through an unmatched partnership of humanity, design and technology.

 

Jon co-founded Opera Software where he served as CEO for 15 years. Jon steered Opera from a small basement nook shared into a global company with 750 employees in 13 countries. Under his leadership, Opera was an early pioneer in mobile web browsing and more than 350 million people now use the Opera web browser.

After Opera, Jon decided to give back by helping other entrepreneurs realize their dreams. He invests in promising start-ups in Norway, the U.S. and in his native Iceland. To provide further support for these growing companies, Jon established Innovation House, unique co-working spaces located in Reykjavik, Iceland and Boston.

Watching other entrepreneurs grow their businesses inspired Jon to return to his original desire: helping people get more from the web through a better and smarter web browser. With some of his original team from Opera, Jon has returned to the industry that launched his career.

Jon is now steering Vivaldi which was came out with its 1.0 version in April 2016. He and his team are making a personal and a feature-rich browser that takes into consideration the needs of every user. Vivaldi is self-funded and aims to be this way where the employees hold equity.

SERDAR KUZULOĞLU

In 1995, his career started as a journalist in an editorial service while he was working in the founding team at Posta. Until 1996, he was the editor of Science-Tech page.

In 2007, as a Director of New Generation Services at Dogan TV Holding, he digitalized the content and enriched interactive services mainly at KanalD, Star, DSmart, Radyo D, Radyo Moda and all other TV channels and radios that belong to Dogan TV Holding.

In 2008, he established a content agency entitled MYK MEDYA that contained the most popular websites in the field such as Yahoyt.com, Televidyon.com, AlkislarlaYasiyorum.com Kaybolduk.biz.

Currently, M. Serdar Kuzuloğlu prepares a weekly column at Radikal about world trends and he presents “Sosyal Medya” which is the Turkey’s longest-running program in the field of social media at TRT, in addition to these he works as a consultant for various companies engaged in digital strategies.

PROF. DR. İLBER ORTAYLI

Prof. Dr. İlber Ortaylı was born in Bregenz, Austria in 1947 and came to Turkey when he was two years old. He finished his primary and middle school in Istanbul and Ankara and graduated from Ankara Atatürk High School in 1965. After graduating from the Faculty of Political Sciences (1968) and the Department of History in the Faculty of Language, History, and Geography at Ankara University, he pursued his study at the University of Vienna. He completed his master′s degree at the University of Chicago under Prof. Dr. Halil İnalcık. Ortaylı received his doctoral degree in the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University in 1978. In 1979, he was appointed as an Associate Professor at Ankara University. He has lectured at many universities in Turkey, Europe, the US, and Russia, and given numerous seminars and conferences. Prof. Ortaylı returned to Ankara University in 1989 and received his Professorship. He became the Head of the Section of Administrative History. After teaching at Galatasaray University from 2002 to 2004, he taught at Bilkent University. From 2005 to 2012, Prof. Dr. Ortaylı served as President at the Topkapı Palace Museum. Currently, he teaches at Galatasaray University.

Prof. Dr. Ortaylı has published numerous articles on Ottoman and Russian history, especially emphasis on cities and the history of public administration, diplomatic, cultural and intellectual history. In 2001, he received the Aydın Doğan Foundation Award. Prof. Dr. Ortaylı is a member of the Foundation for International Studies, the European-Iran Examining Foundation, and the Austrian-Turkish Academy of Sciences.

GLEN GILMORE

Glen Gilmore is the head of Gilmore Business Network; a social media consultatory company started up in New Jersey. He is a lecturer at Rutgers University, and his area of teaching is Digital Marketing and Social Media Law.

He has developed customized training for 500 companies at Rutgers University. He also lectured about Social Media for Business at the College of New Jersey. He consults online on many topics from corporate governance to crisis management.

PELİN THOROGOOD

Pelin Thorogood, a new media marketing and analytics expert, is CEO and a board director of Anametrix, the first cloud-based, real-time marketing analytics platform. Her career as a high-tech innovator includes leading the go-to-market strategy as CMO of WebSideStory (acquired by Omniture/Adobe), extending Peregrine Systems’ enterprise software business (acquired by HP) into web-based applications, in the mid 1990s launching one of the very first mobile B2B applications.

She was named one of the “20 Women to Watch” in sales lead management in 2011 and 2012. She holds a B.S. in Operations Research, Masters in Engineering and MBA degrees, all from Cornell University where she also serves as Executive-in-Residence for the Johnson Graduate School of Management.

RICHARD STACY

Richard is a social media consultant based in the United Kingdom.
He helps organisations understand how to use social media to create measurable value by understanding its power as a medium of connection.

Richard has worked with the following organisations: Microsoft UK, RBS, Discovery Networks Europe, Atkins, Eversheds LLP, The European Association of Communications Agencies and the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Before social media, he spent 20 years working within the Saatchi & Saatchi / Publicis Groupe in London, Sydney, Brussels and Prague. His last agency role was as managing director of Publicis Consultants in London. He also speaks at conferences, conventions and seminars. He is also the author of Social Media and The Three Per Cent Rule: how to succeed by not talking to 97 per cent of your audience.

ASİ BURAK

Asi Burak is an award-winning videogame, esports and digital technology thought leader, named one of the “Digital 25: Leaders in Emerging Entertainment” by the Producers Guild of America (PGA) and Variety Magazine. As CEO of the digital media strategy and production firm Power Play, Burak advises some of the world’s most renowned brands on how to leverage videogames, mobile, esports and virtual reality to fuel interactivity and play, and optimize brand engagement. Notable accomplishments of Power Play include facilitating the first-ever North American League of Legends Championship at Madison Square Garden (2015); conceptualizing and executing the Tribeca Games Festival in partnership with Tribeca Film Festival co-founders; guiding Washington D.C.’s investment in esports, which included a first-of-its kind sponsorship of top professional gaming team NRG; and launching an esports training academy as part of Skoltech in Moscow.

Burak has also consulted with EON Productions (of James Bond films), Newsweek, McCann Erickson / MRM Worldwide and The World Bank, among many others. Burak currently serves as Chairman of the influential Games for Change (G4C), which produces the Annual Games for Change Festival, NYC’s largest gaming industry event, and advances the quality, reach, creation and distribution of videogames that serve as powerful tools in humanitarian and educational efforts. Prior to his tenure as G4C President from 2010 to 2015, Burak co-founded and led Impact Games, the creator of two award-winning platforms: PeaceMaker and Play the News (acquired by Hybrid Learning Systems in 2010). Often interviewed by international and national media and invited to speak at global forums, from the Clinton Foundation to NASA to Sundance and TED Talks, Burak published his first book Power Play: How Video Games Can Save the World with Laura Parker, a contributing writer to the New York Times, in 2017. He is a faculty member at the School of Visual Arts MFA in Design for Social Innovation and holds a Master of Entertainment Technology from Carnegie Mellon University.

EGEMEN TAŞ

Egemen Tas is Comodo Security Solutions’ lead architect for its line of desktop security products and their core components including firewall, antivirus, HIPS, and sandbox. In this role he is responsible for all phases of the product development cycle, from product planning, research, leading the development team, and also actively coding. Before joining Comodo Group Inc. in 2005, Egemen offered consulting and vulnerability research and development services to a number of well known security software companies, corporations and governments, with a major focus on firewalls and anti-dialer/anti-sniffer tools. Egemen is also a noted “white hat” (ethical hacker) whose tools are still used today in ethical hacking courses offered worldwide, including those offered by the SANS Institute.
Egemen holds a BS in Computer Science from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.
