DAVE TROTT

Born in East London

Left school at 16 to be engineering apprentice.

Hated factory life, so I went to art school: East Ham Tech, where I used to draw Quentin Crisp in the nude (him not me).

Got a Rockerfeller Scholarship to go to art school in New York: Pratt Institute.

Studied advertising at Carl Ally on Madison Avenue.

Worked as a deckhand on a Danish tramp steamer to South America.

Came back to London in 1971.

Worked in a bank while I sent copies of my portfolio to fifty ad agencies.

Got hired by John Webster at BMP, who’s won more advertising awards than anyone else in history.

We did a lot of great work (ask me for details if you’re interested).

We won a lot of awards.

I became deputy creative director.

In 1980 I left to start my own agency: Gold Greenlees Trott.

In our first year we were voted the best agency in the UK by Campaign magazine.

In our fourth year we were voted best agency in the world by Ad Age magazine, New York.

We did a lot of great work (again, ask me for details if you want) and won a lot of awards.

I started the D&AD Advertising Concepts Workshops, which ran for over thirty years.

Over the years I’ve trained hundreds of young creatives.

Many of them now run their own agencies, in the UK or abroad.

In 1990 I left GGT to start Bainsfair Sharkey Trott, with the joint CEOs of Saatchi & Saatchi.

In 1993 I left BST to start Walsh Trott Chick Smith.

In 2001 it changed to Chick Smith Trott.

In 2008 we merged with The Gate, and I became Chairman.

I left in 2012.

In 2004 I received the D&AD President’s Award for lifetime achievement.

I also have the same award from The Creative Circle, The Marketing Society, and The Scottish Advertising Assoc.

I’ve published three books:

Predatory Thinking

The first one is out of print.

The publisher for the second two (in hardback and paperback) is Pan Macmillan.

I write two weekly blogs.

One on my own site and one for Campaign.

I have about 25,000 followers on Twitter.

Currently I do consultancy work, freelance for clients.

My wife is an art director.

My daughter is an art director.

My son is a copywriter.

Both kids went to St Martins, we are an art school (creative) family.

 

JEFF JARVIS

Jeff Jarvis is a national leader in the development of online news, blogging, the investigation of new business models for news, and the teaching of entrepreneurial journalism. He writes an influential media blog, Buzzmachine.com.

He is author of “Geeks Bearing Gifts: Imagining New Futures for News” (CUNY Journalism Press, 2014); “Public Parts: How Sharing in the Digital Age Improves the Way We Work and Live” (Simon & Schuster, 2011); “What Would Google Do?” (HarperCollins 2009), and the Kindle Single “Gutenberg the Geek.”

He has consulted for media companies including The Guardian, Digital First Media, Postmedia, Sky.com, Burda, Advance Publications, and The New York Times company at About.com.

Prior to joining the Newmark J-School, Jarvis was president of Advance.net, the online arm of Advance Publications, which includes Condé Nast magazines and newspapers across America.

He was the creator and founding managing editor of Entertainment Weekly magazine and has worked as a columnist, associate publisher, editor, and writer for a number of publications, including TV Guide, People, the San Francisco Examiner, the Chicago Tribune, and the New York Daily News.

Jarvis holds a B.S.J. from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. He was named one of the 100 most influential media leaders by the World Economic Forum at Davos.

SEVİLAY KURT

Graduated from Middle East Technical University, Computer Engineering Department. I started my career as Analist & Developer in Aselsan, worked in Central Bank of The Republic of Turkey and Yapı Kredi Bank under different roles and responsibilities such as Systems Architect, Project Management, Managing IT infrastructure, Architecture and Operations.
Currently, I am the Technical Leader of IBM Turkey leading Technical Strategy, Business and Ecosystem Development, IBM Client Center and University Relationship business. I have broad knowledge of IT strategy, innovation, technology, business and IT digitilization, modernization, architecture, operation, management of transformation programs and strategic projects and sales.

ŞANT MANUKYAN

Şant Manukyan who completed his undergraduate studies in English Business Administration at Istanbul University and has an MBA from Cornell University. In 2002, he started to work at İş Yatırım International Markets division and, in 2007, he was appointed as the Assistant Manager of International Markets. Shant Manukyan, a Global Strategist, has been working as the Director of International Markets as of November 2012. At İş Yatırım, he is responsible for determination of foreign stock and commodity trading strategies and the creation of investor advices in line with these strategies by reflecting the global economic situation to investors.

SONER CANKO

Soner Canko, PhD, who graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Political Sciences, in 1990, has master’s degree and PhD from the Faculty of Economics of the same university. Soner Canko, PhD, who started his career at Dışbank, worked at different positions at Procter & Gamble, Citibank, Hewlett-Packard and Bileşim A.Ş. After working as the Founding General Manager at First Data Turkey, Canko, PhD, who worked as the Assistant General Manager at Ziraat Bankası, has been working as the General Manager of the Interbank Card Center (BKM) since 2011.

GÖKHAN SEÇKİN

Gökhan Seçkin worked for  Bogazici University as Researcher and has MSC in Chemical Engineering. Later he worked GE Aviation , Sandoz as engineer. He  focused on online  technologies and worked for digital advertising technology companies such as Zanox and Engageya as Country Manager. He advised many startups in BUMED Business Angels Network on digital marketing technologies. He is co-founder & CEO of Kimlic which is one of the first blockchain companies in Turkey. Kimlic focuses on solving know-your-customer (KYC) problem of banking and crypto world. Gökhan is a believer that blockchain technology is here to stay and industries need to adapt.

VLAD TRIFA

Hi, I’m Vlad. I live in Lausanne and I love life, food, art and technology.

Currently, I’m leading the Swisscom Digital Lab at EPFL. Previously, I was co-founder and chief of product officer at EVRYTHNG, a startup that makes products smart. In previous lives, I built acoustic sensor systems to help biologists study bird communication in the forests of Mexico and California; neural models of sensory-motor coordination for humanoid robots in Japan; or urban computing platforms to collect and analyze massive amounts of real-time data in Singapore. My forté is making interactive physical objects that connect to the Web and I learned my trade as an engineer and researcher at MITUCLASAP and EPFL. I graduated with a PhD in computer science from ETH Zurich, but no need to call me “doc”.

JENS BINDER

Dr Jens Binder is a Lecturer in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University, UK, where he specialises in Cyberpsychology, particularly in the use of social media and other social-interactive technologies. Having studied in Germany and the US, he previously worked at the Universities of Sussex and Manchester on projects concerning human socialising and social networks.

His research covers three broad themes: Social media use and social networks (How we build, navigate and understand online interconnectivity); Deception, Disclosure and Security (How we manage strategic information exchange in digital environments); Social Relating with and through technology (How we bond with each other and with digital devices)

He draws on a wide range of methods and theories in between social, evolutionary and cognitive psychology. His research has been published in top journals in the field, and he is in much demand as an expert evaluator, journal editor and book series editor. He has also supervised several PhD projects in Cyberpsychology.
